How to ship eBay Purchases
If you are an online auction buyer or seller, you can save on shipping large items.
You can save when you ship large items that you buy or sell on eBay or any online site; you should always get a shipping quote first before you list an item on eBay or purchase an item on eBay.
For Buyers:
Many buyers are shocked at the cost of shipping an item on eBay. If you are not careful, you can end paying more to ship an item than the item cost. Remember that items have to be packaged for shipping. If the seller is not willing to provide this packaging, you may not be able to get you purchased item shipped back to you.
For Sellers:
Many sellers are shocked as well especially if they have offered free or very low freight cost. Sellers that wish to just list one freight charge should work out the cost of shipping the item to a city that is the farthest from theirs, thereby protecting themselves from losing money on the freight cost.
Be sure and work out all the details before you make a bid. This includes bids on:
- new and used furniture, tables, chairs, sofa, love seat
- major appliances, refrigerator, stove, washing machine, dryer
- home exercise machines, like treadmills and ellipticals
- large household items
- generators and machinery
- truck and car engines and transmissions
- Other auto parts, fenders, hoods, tires, wheels
- Electronics, flat screen tv, photo copiers
- Just about anything sold on eBay that requires common carrier shipping
